Israel criticizes UN vote to list ruins near ancient Jericho as World heritage site in Palestine
The UN committee has designated prehistoric ruins near the city of Jericho in the West Bank as a World Heritage Site in Palestine. This decision has caused anger from Israel, which controls the territory and does not recognize a Palestinian state. The ruins, known as the Tell es-Sultan archaeological site, date back to the ninth millennium BC and are located outside the ancient city of Jericho.
